Caring for your new Hair Extensions
Long beautiful hair is a sign of radiance, health and luxury. To maintain your hair extensions in premium condition just follow these simple steps and your hair will remain gorgeous and healthy.
CARING FOR WEAVE EXTENSIONS.
Brushing – when brushing your hair it is always better to use a soft bristle brush, tangle teaser or loop brush. This will ensure the hair does not snag or catch your extensions. We recommend that you begin brushing at the ends of the hair, then move up to the mid-length and finally brush the root area. At night gently tie your hair back in a loose braid or twist; this will help prevent tangles and knots.
Cleansing – First brush your hair thoroughly, then soak with warm water then add shampoo at the roots. We would suggest that you do NOT turn the head upside down but always wash from the crown down. There is no requirement to scrub the mid-lengths or ends as it will be cleaned sufficiently during the rinsing process.
Conditioning/ Treatments – All hair needs conditioning and moisture treatments. Apply the conditioner/ treatment to the midlengths and ends only. Do not apply directly on your scalp. You can gently brush through the conditioner/treatment using your tangle teaser brush. Leave the conditioning treatment on for a minimum of 3 minutes and a maximum of 1 hour. Once conditioned, rinse thoroughly with warm water.
Towel drying – After rinsing squeeze excess water from the hair and wrap a towel around the head and gently pat towel to remove moisture from hair, avoid rubbing at scalp and hair. Next gently brush hair with soft bristle brush, beginning at ends, moving to mid-lengths and then roots.
Drying and Styling – It is recommended to DRY the roots to prevent extensions from becoming damp smelling. If left damp too often hair will start to smell. You can leave the hair to dry naturally on the ends ONLY. Once the hair is dry you can style with any thermal styling tool to create your desired look. Do NOT sleep with wet or damp hair, ensure that the hair is fully dry before going to bed. Sleeping with wet/damp hair may cause matting to extensions and natural hair.
Bedtime Routine - It is important to tie your hair extensions up or place your hair into a sleep bonnet or sleep cap.
Investing in a silk sleeping cap restores the health of your hair by protecting your hair from abrasive, damaging cotton pillows.
It will also help prevent friction while you sleep at night, therefore reducing the amount of frizz you wake up with. Having your hair protected alleviates stress on the hair and hair extensions and will help to prevent split ends.
PLEASE NOTE –
If you swim regularly or are planning a holiday whilst wearing extensions. We recommend you wear a protective cap or do not get your extensions wet as the chemicals in the pool or salt levels in the sea may affect your extensions. We cannot guarantee the quality if adequate precautions are not taken.
CARING FOR CLIP-IN EXTENSIONS
Cleansing – First brush your CLIP-IN hair thoroughly with a wide tooth comb or soft bristle brush, then soak with warm water, add shampoo at the roots of the clip in gently massing it down to the ends of the hair. DO NOT rub the hair roughly as the hair can tangle and knot. There is no requirement to scrub the mid-lengths or ends as it will be cleaned sufficiently during the rinsing process.
Conditioning/ Treatments – All hair needs conditioning and moisture treatments. Apply the conditioner/ treatment all over the entire CLIP-IN hair. You can gently brush through the conditioner/treatment using your tangle teaser brush. Leave the conditioning treatment on for a minimum of 3 minutes and a maximum of 1 hour. Once conditioned, rinse thoroughly with warm water and squeeze out excess water.
Towel drying – After rinsing squeeze excess water from the hair and wrap a towel around the CLIP -IN extensions hair and gently squeeze the towel to remove moisture from hair, avoid rubbing the hair. Next gently brush hair with soft bristle brush, beginning at ends, moving to mid-lengths and then roots.
Styling – Its's best to use heat protection sprays before styling. Then blow-dry the CLP-IN hair extensions thoroughly. You can then use heat styling tools to curl or straighten the hair.
Storing / Hanging the hair – Now that the CLIP-IN hair is clean and damp from washing them, you have 2 options of storing the hair.
Option 1. Bdry the hair first then put away in a safe place/ hang on a clip on clothes hanger to store once dry.
Option 2. Leave the hair damp hang on a clip on clothes hanger and store where there is enough ventilation for the hair to dry naturally. Do not put in a cupboard/closed space, if the hair is wet it could become mouldy or damp smelling.
